Description
The Drennan Acolyte Plus Feeder 12ft, with quality fittings on a world-class blank this is perfect for fishing big waters or commercials for big carp, largely thanks to its strong & powerful super slim blank. This is ideal for medium to long range work up to 60 metres, but distances greater than this are achievable with the right tackle and a good casting technique. During field-testing, this accounted for plenty of quality carp into double figures on long-range Method tactics. This is equally at home for catching species like bream and tench with conventional methods. The extra length is also really useful for anglers wanting to target hard-fighting fish on rivers. It comes with three top-quality carbon tips of Supplied with 1.5oz, 2oz and 2.5oz push-in carbon tips that each blend in seamlessly with the slim blank. These are interchangeable with other rods in the Acolyte Plus and Acolyte Ultra range, with the exception of the Distance model.
A two-piece design enables the rod to be conveniently carried to the bankside ready made up inside a sleeve or case. Neoprene rod socks and retaining bands are also included to help keep everything protected and together.

I’m looking at targeting larger Roach on both rivers and lakes, is this too overpowered for the job? I was looking for an all rounder that can cope with Chub, Tench and Perch but want to target Roach too.

Hi Jamie, thanks for the question. This should be fine as the acolyte, to my knowledge, all have soft tips but power up mid to butt. Meaning you’ll have the lovely soft action to help reduce hook pulls but the power you need to cast feeders and play better stamp fish. If unsure have a look at the Silverfish and F1 rods, these are slimmer blanks designed for silvers and smaller carp but still have power to land bigger fish. Its designed to cope with bigger commercial carp but probably not right for a session on Redmire.
