The Rolling Pin Reel was made famous by legendary barbel angler Ray Walton, one of the most influential figures in modern river fishing. Ray’s revolutionary approach, actively searching for fish rather than waiting for them, saw him roll baits through fast, clear rivers, exploring swims others overlooked. This method produced remarkable results, from subtle plucks to powerful takes, and demanded a reel capable of long casts with delicate control. The Rolling Pin was the perfect answer.
Precision engineered in the UK, both the body and spool are machined from the highest quality aluminium bar stock and finished in Heritage Green anodising for durability and protection. A lightweight, bar-stock-machined rod plate ensures secure attachment to the rod. The laser-engraved back plate houses a simple on/off click drag operated by a side lever and supports a precision-machined stainless steel spindle.
The quick-release, ventilated spool features a central hub aligned by six silver spokes and runs on an improved twin stainless steel bearing system for smooth, reliable performance. For traditionalists, the handles can be easily removed, allowing direct hand control of the spool for rapid line retrieval.
All J.W. Young reels are proudly made and built in the UK and are supplied in a presentation box complete with a reel pouch and certificate of authenticity.

Is the ray walton rolling pin suitable for left and right handed use, ie when you rotate it 90 ° to cast, can it be rotated clockwise and anticlockwise?

Its only really designed to work in left hand wind. The ratchet only works in the one direction.

They're a stocked item and as of writing this we have just one left on the shelf. As far as a guarantee, we ourselves have a returns policy, full details in the link below. There's no specific mention of a manufacturers guarantee on their website, or inside the reel box etc. Typically though most manufacturers will cover you from a year of purchase.
