Description
The Triton True-Pin expands the J.W. Young range of centrepin reels, drawing its name from Triton, the ancient Greek god said to possess the upper body of a man and the tail of a fish. This symbolism reflects the unique connection between angler and fish, a relationship the Triton True-Pin is designed to enhance by delivering a truly immersive and traditional fishing experience.
True-pin reels are regarded by purist anglers, and perhaps even more so by engineers, as the ultimate expression of centrepin design. With no bearings and the spool running directly on the centre spindle, they offer an unmatched sense of control and feedback, creating a direct connection between angler, reel, and river. Renowned angler and broadcaster Bob James, presenter of BBC Television’s A Passion for Angling, describes the experience:

The Triton’s design is loosely inspired by the highly sought-after Atom reel, of which only 150 were produced as a limited edition. Like the Atom, the Triton is a classic true-pin that spins freely on its spindle, delivering a pure and traditional style of angling that many consider the pinnacle of reel craftsmanship. True-pins are widely regarded by anglers worldwide as the crème de la crème of centrepin reels.
Finished in a striking black lustre anodising with brass-style fittings, the Triton is both elegant and purposeful. It features a twelve-spoke spool, a micro-adjustable drag, and a brass rod plate incorporating a Beta-Light slot for night fishing. As with all J.W. Young reels, the Triton is as impressive to look at as it is to fish with.
Each reel is supplied with a British-made padded pouch and includes an individual serial number, warranty, and certificate of manufacture, reflecting the quality and heritage behind every JW Young reel.

Can the line guard be removed?

Hi George,
Its not entirely clear as to which reels in the range allow this and which don't. Plus we're currently out of stock of both of the reels your looking for info on so I can go check for you.
