The River Specialist overcomes this with an adjustable tension click check, allowing the reel to be quickly set to cope with heavy flows. Once the bait is cast, the click check can be engaged and fine-tuned to prevent line from peeling off uncontrollably, providing increased resistance on the take. This results in better bite registration, improved hook-ups, and reduced overruns in demanding conditions.
Precision built, the JW Young River Specialist features a solid backplate design, twin ball bearings, a micro-adjustable disc drag, and classic ivory-style handles. A polished rim ensures smooth line control, while a built-in beta light slot in the reel seat makes it ideal for night fishing. Finished in a sleek matt black coating, the reel complements any rod it is paired with.
